Friday Links I
A brief collection of fun, fascinating, or furry links in the fantasy/sci-fi blog world:
- Patrick Rothfuss interviewing Joe Abercrombie. Two of my very favorite authors together in one blog post!
- Another interview with Joe Abercrombie, a little less fun, but a little more informative when it comes to his writing style.
- Mark Charan Newton discusses the future of science fiction vs. fantasy, and how he fears sci-fi may be on a serious decline. Interesting reading. Myself, I think he is making some very valid points. Rather than howl in outrage, maybe sci-fi fans should be looking for solutions. Another link, in which Mark, having woken a cranky dragon, clarifies and defends his previous post. Lastly, a followup, with a collection of comments from the blogosphere.
- Time, in their Top 10 of 2009 lists, chose The Windup Girl by Paolo Bacigalupi as one of their Top 10 Fiction Books of 2009. I haven’t read this one yet, but there is crazy buzz surrounding it, so it’s on the To Be Read list.
- Pat of Pat’s Fantasy Hotlist has a post detailing some of the 2010 releases he’s excited about. As I’m too lazy to make my own list, I’m stealing his.
